Pathology
Pathology is a branch of medicine that studies and diagnoses disease by examining tissue, cells, and bodily fluids. Pathologists are medical doctors that specialize in diagnosing diseases, ranging from infectious diseases to cancer, by examining the effects of the disease on bodily organs, tissues, and fluids. Pathology can help detect and treat illnesses, ultimately leading to improved patient care and outcomes. For example, an accurate diagnosis of cancer through pathology can lead to early treatment and improved prognosis. Pathologic findings can also assist in determining the cause of death in the case of an unexpected or sudden death. Pathology is a critical part of successful disease management, and the specialized skills of a pathologist are invaluable for improving patient care.
