Leptospirosis
Leptospirosis is an infectious disease caused by a group of bacteria known as Leptospira. Symptoms may include fever, headache, muscle aches, and chills, which can lead to severe complications such as kidney and liver damage, meningitis, and death. It is transmitted through contact with infected animal urine or contaminated water or soil. People can be exposed through occupational or recreational activities, or contact with domestic or wild animals. Treatment generally involves antibiotics, and prevention is by avoiding contact with contaminated material and vaccination. Leptospirosis is an important health concern in many parts of the world, and it is important to be aware of its risks and take preventive measures.
