Bacterial Vaginosis
Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is an infection of the vagina caused by an imbalance of normal bacteria found in the vagina. Symptoms can include a thin gray-white discharge, fishy odor, and itching and burning around the vagina. BV is a common problem among women of reproductive age, and it is the most common type of vaginal infection. Treatment is available and includes antibiotics and antifungal medications. BV is associated with an increased risk of developing pelvic inflammatory disease and other reproductive issues, and it can cause premature birth if left untreated. It is important to take preventive measures to reduce the risk of getting BV, such as avoiding douching and using condoms for sex.
