Acinetobacter Baumannii
Acinetobacter baumannii is a Gram-negative bacterium that has emerged in recent years as an important cause of nosocomial infections, particularly in immunocompromised or critically ill patients. It is highly transmissible, able to survive a wide range of environmental conditions, and has developed a variety of antibiotic resistances. A. baumannii is commonly found in the environment and is highly resistant to many antibiotics, making it difficult to treat an infection caused by it. Its ability to colonize and persist within hospital environments has made it a formidable hospital-acquired pathogen, leading to increased morbidity and mortality. Improved hygiene and control measures, as well as the development of new antibiotics and alternative treatments, are needed to combat A. baumannii infection and reduce its impact on patient health.
