Traumatic Optic
Neuropathy Traumatic Optic Neuropathy is a rare, sight-threatening condition caused by physical trauma to the optic nerve. It often occurs as a result of a blow to the head, neck or eye. Symptoms of traumatic optic neuropathy can include a sudden decrease in vision, double vision, blurred vision, changes in pupil size, and complete blindness in the affected eye. Treatment typically involves steroids, surgery, or a combination of both. Early diagnosis is key to preserving vision, as traumatic optic neuropathy can cause permanent damage to the optic nerve if left untreated.
