Traumatic Encephalopathy

Traumatic Encephalopathy is a brain disorder caused by a head injury or repeated trauma resulting in long-term neurological problems. Symptoms of the disorder can include problems with thinking, memory, speech, and decision-making. Severe cases can even lead to dementia and depression. Diagnosis is typically done through MRI scans, CT scans, and other imaging, as well as cognitive and neurological testing. Treatment is often a combination of medication and therapy. Traumatic Encephalopathy is significant in terms of its potentially life-altering effects and is the driving force behind raising awareness and research into the prevention of such brain injuries. Increasing awareness and understanding will lead to better prevention and treatment plans for those affected.
