Traumatic Arthritis
Traumatic arthritis is a form of joint inflammation that develops after an injury to a joint. It is a form of osteoarthritis, and can cause pain, restricted ability to move the joint, and swelling. People who have injuries to their joints are at a higher risk for developing traumatic arthritis, including athletes and those who have had a traumatic accident. Treatments for traumatic arthritis include lifestyle changes such as weight management, physical therapy, and medications to reduce pain and inflammation. Surgery may be required in some cases. Taking steps to prevent traumatic joint injuries is the best way to avoid developing this condition.
