Traumatic Arterial Dissection

Traumatic arterial dissection is a condition that occurs when the wall of an artery is damaged, leading to a disturbance of blood flow. This condition increases the risk of stroke, ischemic episodes, limb ischemias, and decreased quality of life. Diagnosis can be challenging as it requires an imaging scan such as Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) or Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA). Treatment includes the placement of a stent or surgical repair. Prompt diagnosis and management of traumatic arterial dissection is paramount for preserving limb viability and quality of life.
