Trauma Pregnancy
Trauma pregnancy is a medical condition in which a woman experiences physical and/or psychological trauma during pregnancy. Trauma during pregnancy can have serious implications for both the mother and the baby, including increased risk of preterm birth, low birth weight, and post-partum depression. Some common causes of trauma during pregnancy are physical and sexual abuse, domestic violence, and exposure to trauma in the environment. Appropriate medical and psychological support is important during trauma pregnancy in order to minimise the risks and provide the best possible care to both mother and baby. It is essential for providers to recognise the signs of trauma pregnancy and offer timely support to ensure the mother and baby can have a healthy and safe delivery.
