Prehospital Care
Prehospital care is an essential component of the medical care system, providing time-sensitive care to patients in their homes or at the scene of an emergency. Prehospital care involves delivering medical care in a variety of settings, such as in an ambulance, at an accident or disaster site, or in a patient's home. It is focused on identifying and stabilising critically ill or injured patients, providing emergency transport to a hospital and ensuring safe transfer of the patient from the prehospital setting to the emergency department. It is crucial for improving patient outcomes and reducing morbidity following a medical emergency. Prehospital care also serves to support rapid access to hospital-based care, providing an early intervention by healthcare professionals with the experience and skills to rapidly assess and triage patients before they are admitted to a hospital.
