Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can occur after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Symptoms can include flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, extreme emotional reactions and difficulty managing strong emotions. PTSD can significantly interfere with a person’s daily life, and can lead to social isolation, difficulty in relationships and difficulty functioning at work and in other settings. Treatment for the disorder typically includes both psychological and pharmacological therapies, and can help people manage their symptoms and return to normal functioning.
