Pediatric Burns
Pediatric burns are a type of injury caused by thermal, chemical, or electrical sources. The majority of burns in children occur in the home and are unintentional. Burns can have serious health consequences for children. They can cause physical and psychological trauma, permanent scarring and disfigurement, and increased risk for infections. Pediatric burns can be treated with topical agents, medications, physical therapy, and reconstructive surgery. Early recognition and treatment of pediatric burns is essential for successful healing and to minimize acute and long-term complications.
