Morton's Neuroma
Morton's Neuroma is a common disorder of the foot that results in pain, numbness, and tingling in the toes. It occurs when the nerve between the third and fourth toes becomes compressed or irritated due to the thickening of the tissue around it. It is most commonly seen in middle-aged women, and is associated with the wearing of high-heeled shoes or tight-fitting shoes. Treatment for Morton's Neuroma includes orthotic devices, physical therapy, shoe selection, and in severe cases, surgical removal of the nerve. The recognition and proper management of this condition is essential as it can lead to long-term disability if left untreated.
