Major Trauma
Major Trauma is a traumatic injury that results in severe and life-threatening physical damage. It may involve multiple body systems and can lead to permanent disability or death. Major trauma is typically caused by accidents, falls, firearm and sharp weapon injuries, and falls from height. Prompt and appropriate treatment can generally restore a patient’s physical and psychological health, whereas delayed or inadequate treatment may lead to severe disability or death. Major Trauma treatments involve a multi-disciplinary approach and can include surgery, medical management, rehabilitation, psychological support and other supportive services.
