Intimate Partner Violence

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a serious and pervasive public health issue, which can take a variety of forms such as physical, psychological, sexual, and economic abuse. It affects individuals, families, and communities and is associated with a range of physical and mental health problems, as well as disruption to the lives of those involved. IPV is a major risk factor for injury, disability and death, particularly among women and children. A comprehensive approach is needed to address this issue, including preventive measures, early intervention and specialist support services. Education and awareness raising are essential components of any effective, long-term strategy to tackle this issue.
