Developmental Trauma
Developmental trauma is a type of trauma experienced during the early stages of development of a person which impacts their physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. It can be caused by a variety of factors and experiences, such as abuse, neglect, attachment disruption, or exposure to violence. Developmental trauma can have significant consequences in both the short- and long-term and can shape an individual’s entire life. As such, it is important to recognize the signs of such trauma and to provide support and healing in order to ensure the individual’s successful development and growth. Developmental trauma can be addressed through a variety of interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapies, psychotherapeutic approaches, and mindfulness practices.
