Closed Fractures

Closed fractures are a type of broken bone that does not protrude through the skin, but occurs when a bone snaps or cracks. This type of fracture is usually caused by a sudden, high-impact force, either from a fall, a motor vehice accident, or a sporting accident. Closed fractures typically heal well with proper treatment, which often involves immobilization and application of a cast, splint, or brace to the affected bone. Surgery may also be required in more severe cases. Treatment of closed fractures is important to ensure the bone is properly aligned and heals in the correct position.
