Burns Epidemiology

Burns Epidemiology is the study of the incidence, prevalence and risk factors for burn injuries, and the resulting morbidity, mortality and economic burden that result from these events. It draws upon methods from population health, including epidemiological research techniques such as analysing large databases and surveys, as well as clinical trials. This field is essential for understanding the global burden of burn injuries and how to effectively prevent, treat, and rehabilitate burn victims. Informed by research, the evidence-based strategies that emerge from Burns Epidemiology can lead to the reduction of burn-related illnesses and deaths, and improve long-term outcomes for burn victims.
