Biomechanics
Biomechanics is the scientific study of the mechanical principles of living organisms and their applications in engineering and medicine. It is a multidisciplinary field which applies the principles of mechanics to understand and analyze the complex mechanical behavior of living organisms. Its main focus is to investigate the effects of forces on biological systems such as movements, muscle functions, ligaments and tendons, and complex biological processes such as cell division. Biomechanics has been instrumental in the development of prosthetics, implants and orthopedic devices, as well as in the understanding of the mechanical behavior of cells. It is also used in research to help improve athletic performance and to develop exercise programs to prevent injury. Biomechanics plays an important role in the health field, providing insights that help to improve the quality of life of individuals.
