Seminiferous Tubules
Seminiferous tubules are microscopic, tightly coiled tubes that form the bulk of the testes in many animals, including humans. They play an essential role in the production of sperm cells. Each tubule is lined with a layer of specialised cells that are responsible for the processing and production of mature sperm cells. These tubules provide the environment for spermatogenesis to occur as well as a transportation route for the sperm itself. The seminiferous tubules are essential in the reproductive process to ensure male fertility.
