Paleontology
Paleontology is the scientific study of ancient life forms, such as plants and animals, that have become fossilized. It is an interdisciplinary field that combines the study of biology, ecology, geology, and other scientific disciplines. Paleontology is important to the understanding of the history of life on Earth, including the study of evolutionary processes, the formation of past environments, and prehistoric climate change. Paleontologists use evidence from fossils, geology, and sedimentology to understand the history of ancient life and the environment. Paleontology is also used to investigate present-day environmental issues, such as biodiversity, climate change, and environmental pollution.
