Otters

Otters are semi-aquatic mammals belonging to the Lutrinae family. They live in habitats that include coasts, rivers, streams, and lakes. Otters are known for their agile, playful nature and are among the most intelligent animals on Earth. They use tools to extract prey from their homes and are some of the fastest swimmers in the animal kingdom. As apex predators, otters have a vital role in maintaining the balance of the aquatic ecosystems they inhabit. They keep fish populations in check, which helps keep rivers and lakes healthy. In addition, otters serve as an important source of water-based tourism, drawing visitors to observe their playful antics or take part in organised conservation programmes.
