Leporids
Leporids are a family of small to medium-sized mammals that encompasses the rabbits, hares and pikas. These animals are known for their strong hind legs and long ears, which help them to sense their environment and evade predators. Leporids are found on every continent except for Antarctica, making them a widespread species. They provide important benefits to their ecosystems. Through their grazing, they maintain grass and vegetation growth, helping to keep soil nutrients in balance. They are also food sources for their predators, helping to maintain healthy populations of their predators. Additionally, their burrowing activities help to aerate and loosen soil. Leporids have many uses for humans as well, as they are a popular game for hunters and a valuable source of fur for the fur industry. As a result, leporids have a significant role in many ecosystems, and their benefits to the environment and humans should not be overlooked.
