Baboons
Baboons are Old World monkeys that are found in Africa and Arabia, and are widely considered to be the most successful of extant primates. They are highly adaptable, omnivorous and occur in a number of habitats. Baboons live in social groups, with various sizes and structures, depending upon species. Typical social groups consist of adult males, females and infants. Baboons are important for their ecological role in the savanna and their use in scientific research. They are often used as models for human behavior, health and disease. In addition, baboons are important for their cultural and symbolic significance within human societies.
