Small Cell Lung Carcinoma
Small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) is a type of cancer that is usually found in the lungs. It is fast-growing, aggressive, and spreads quickly to other parts of the body. It is the most serious type of lung cancer and is responsible for 10 to 15 percent of all lung cancer cases. Early detection is key for successful treatment, as SCLC can spread quickly and become more difficult to treat once it has done so. Treatment options for SCLC include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. There have been recent advances in treatments such as immunotherapy and targeted therapy that have shown promise in treating SCLC. With early detection and proper treatment, there is a chance of a cure for SCLC.
