Pharmacoepidemiology
Pharmacoepidemiology is the study of the use and effects of drugs in large groups of people. It combines elements of epidemiology with pharmacology to identify health risks associated with the use of medications. Its primary goal is to protect public health by assessing the safety and effectiveness of drugs and discovering new methods to better monitor their use. Pharmacoepidemiology can help doctors determine which drugs should be prescribed, how to prevent adverse drug reactions, and how to improve patient adherence to therapeutic regimens. This information can also be used to inform health policy decisions and drug regulatory processes.
