Molecular Biology
Molecular biology is a branch of life science that primarily focuses on understanding the structure and function of the molecules that are involved in various biological processes. Its activities involve the manipulation of nucleic acids and proteins in order to gain insights into how these molecules interact with each other in order to control the development, growth, differentiation and functioning of cells, tissues and organisms. Molecular biology has many practical applications in the fields of medicine, agriculture and biotechnology. For example, molecular biology techniques are used in the diagnosis of genetic diseases, in gene therapy, in the development of transgenic crops and in the production of pharmaceuticals. It is an important tool in understanding the causes and treatments of diseases, as well as the development of new therapies. Molecular biology is therefore essential for the advancement of medical science and biotechnology.
