Mesothelioma
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer caused mostly by exposure to asbestos. It occurs when asbestos fibers are inhaled or ingested and become lodged in the mesothelial cells, which line the chest and abdominal cavity. Mesothelioma can be difficult to diagnose and treat, and often leads to death due to the advanced stage at which it is usually discovered. There is no cure, but treatments such as radiation, surgery, and chemotherapy can extend life expectancy and reduce symptoms. Asbestos exposure is the only known cause of mesothelioma, so prevention is the best way to avoid this deadly disease.

Lung cancer is uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells that start off in one or both lungs; usually in the cells that line the air passages. Abnormal cells do not develop into healthy lung tissue, they divide rapidly and form tumors. As tumors become larger and more numerous, they undermine the lung's ability to provide bloodstream with oxygen.
