Syntax

in Syntaxin is a family of proteins that play a key role in the process of vesicle secretion in eukaryotic cells. Syntaxins form a bridge between the vesicles and their target membrane, allowing the transfer of proteins and other molecules between the two components. Syntaxin proteins contain two domains: a transmembrane domain and an N-terminal region. The N-terminal region is responsible for binding to the target membrane and the transmembrane domain allows the vesicle to dock onto the target membrane. Syntaxin is important for maintaining normal cellular function and has been implicated in several human diseases, such as diabetes and cancer. Syntaxin is also being studied as a novel drug target for the treatment of these diseases.
