Natural Orifice Surgery
Natural orifice surgery is a surgical technique, in which a patient’s natural body orifices (mouth, vagina, anus) are used to access the surgical site and perform a multitude of operative procedures. This minimally invasive approach is significant in reducing the trauma to the body and potentially decreasing the risks of infection and decreasing post-operative pain. Natural orifice surgery is being increasingly used for a variety of procedures including hysterectomies, hernia repair, and appendectomies. Compared to conventional open surgery, natural orifice surgery has potential benefits such as reduced pain, faster recovery, and improved cosmetic results. Many surgeries can now be done through natural orifice surgery, offering patients a safe and effective alternative to traditional operations.
