United States, Birds

The United States is home to hundreds of bird species that play an important role in its environment: providing essential seed dispersal, insect pest control, and pollination services. Of these birds, many are unique to the US, like the Hawaiian honeycreeper or the American Robin, while others, like the Canada Goose or Great Blue Heron, migrate from other countries to its shores. All of these birds have an important economic and ecological significance, from providing recreational enjoyment through birdwatching to supporting healthy crops and commercial fishing. The conservation of birds and their associated habitats is a major priority in the US, and organizations like the Audubon Society and other state and national wildlife organizations are dedicated to their protection.
