Song Sparrows
Song Sparrows are small songbirds found across North America. They are identified by their brown streaked breast and gray-brown head. Song Sparrows are commonly found in open grasslands, fields, and shrublands or near water. They feed on insects, seeds and berries. Their songs, which include both trills and whistles, are an integral part of the North American landscape. They are also beneficial to the environment, eating many pests and helping to pollinate flowers. The presence of these birds at a site can indicate a healthy environment and is an indication of the biodiversity of an area.
