Phenology

Phenology is the study of periodic plant and animal life cycle events and how these events are influenced by seasonal and interannual variations in climate, as well as habitat factors. It is a vital tool in helping to explain the effects of climate change by analyzing population shifts, migration patterns, and changes in flowering and fruiting times. Phenology is used to create models of species-habitat relationships, which can be used to inform species conservation and management decisions. It can also be used to inform the planning and management of pollinators, improving the productivity of fruit and vegetable crops.
