Indonesia - Birds

Indonesia is home to a vast array of bird species, ranging from common domesticated birds to rare endemic species. Indonesia is considered one of the world’s richest countries for avian species, with more than 1,586 species found across the archipelago. These birds help to maintain the balance of nature and are also important for ecotourism. Indonesia’s forests also provide habitat for a number of rare and endangered birds, such as the Javan Hawk-Eagle, the Bali Starling and the Maleo, a megapode endemic to Sulawesi. Bird-watchers from all over the world often visit Indonesia to observe these birds in their natural habitats.
