Bird Senses
Birds possess an array of different senses, which enable them to survive in varied and often harsh environments. These senses include vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch, Magnetic Sensing and Balance. With sharp vision, they are able to identify predators and can also pinpoint small objects. They have a highly developed sense of hearing, allowing them to detect even quiet sounds. They also have a well-developed sense of smell that is mainly used for gathering food, finding mates, and recognizing their own species. Additionally, they have a good sense of taste that is used to detect food. Birds also have a keen sense of touch, allowing them to feel and explore their surroundings. Lastly, they have a unique magnetic sensing ability that helps them to navigate in unfamiliar environments and a highly developed balance system allowing them to maneuver in the air. As a result, these senses help birds to overcome the challenges presented by their environment, thereby making them incredibly successful species.
