Sponges
Sponges are a fascinating group of water-dwelling invertebrates found in both marine and freshwater habitats. They are known for their diverse shapes, colors, and textures, as well as for their unique ability to filter and absorb water. Sponges are valuable members of marine and freshwater ecosystems, as they are able to clean large amounts of water by taking away debris and other pollutants, and act as both food and shelter for other animals. Sponges are also a valuable source for biotechnology and medical research, as the unique molecular properties of their cells and tissues can be used to study and map genetic information, develop new drugs, and detect microorganisms.
