Sea Cucumbers
Sea cucumbers are an important part of the marine ecosystem, providing essential services such as nutrient cycling, oxygen production, and habitat stabilization. They feed on detritus (decomposing organic matter) and release oxygen into the water. Sea cucumbers are also an important source of food for a variety of marine creatures, ranging from fish and crabs to whales. Their importance is highlighted by their value as seafood, with some species being harvested commercially. Sea cucumbers are also used in traditional Chinese medicine, as studies have shown that certain species possess anti-cancer properties.
