Physical Oceanography
Physical oceanography is the study of the physical properties and processes of the oceans, such as temperature, salinity, currents, tides, and waves. It is important to understand and study the physics of the oceans because of the significant effects on our global climate, ocean circulation, and marine ecosystems. Physical oceanography is used to monitor and predict seasonal changes in the ocean, to understand the interactions between the ocean and atmosphere, and to understand the ocean’s role in global climate. It also plays a role in practical applications, such as search and rescue, navigation, and fisheries management.
