Marine Ecology

Marine ecology is a branch of ecology which focuses on the study of the relationship between organisms and their environment in the marine (or aquatic) environment. Marine ecosystems provide an array of benefits, including food for communities, a means of transport for goods, energy resources, and even recreational activities. The important roles of various species within the system are also studied, along with the effects of human activity and climate change on these organisms and their environment. Marine ecology is an important field of research, both for the study of the ocean and to inform conservation and management decisions which have an impact on marine resources and those who depend on them.
