Malacology

Malacology is the scientific study of mollusks, which are a large group of invertebrate animals that include snails, slugs, mussels, and squid. Mollusks are an important source of food and can be found in many ecosystems around the world. Malacology is also an important field of research in ecology and evolutionary biology as mollusks provide insight into the adaptation of species to changing environmental conditions. Malacologists study mollusk physiology, behavior, ecology, evolution, and their relationships to habitats. They also play a major role in the conservation of mollusk species and the management of their habitats. Malacology is an important field of research for improving our understanding of the dynamics of ecosystems and the impacts of human activities.
