Limnology
Limnology is the study of the structures, functions, and dynamics of aquatic ecosystems, especially those of freshwater. It is the branch of ecology focused on the study of the organisms, their interactions, and habitats in freshwater systems and their relationship to the environment. The importance of limnology lies in its study of the health and sustainability of freshwater environments, which are essential for life. It is used for water resource management, pollution control, and understanding climate change effects, among other uses. Limnology also provides insights into the biodiversity of freshwater ecosystems and the unique species that inhabit them, making it an important tool for conservation.
