Cephalopods

Cephalopods are a type of marine mollusk that include octopus, squid, cuttlefish and nautilus. They are among the most intelligent, interactive and visually striking animals on the planet and are becoming increasingly important in a wide range of scientific, medical and technological fields. Cephalopods have an efficient nervous system, complex behavior and a camera-like eye structure that provides them with excellent vision. These characteristics, combined with their unique physiology, make them useful as biomedical models for research into diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's and also for research into neural development. They are also being used in robotics, intelligent computer systems, biomimetic materials and biomedical engineering. Cephalopods are an amazing and fascinating group of organisms that can help us understand and improve our own world.
