Vasculitis Pathophysiology
Vasculitis is an inflammatory condition in which small to medium-sized blood vessels become inflamed and swollen. It can lead to a loss of blood supply to organs and tissues, causing damage and other complications. Vasculitis is a potentially serious condition, as it can lead to organ failure, disability, and even death in some cases. It can affect multiple organs, and the severity of symptoms depends on the type of vasculitis and its location. Diagnosis and treatment of vasculitis are complex and require a multi-disciplinary approach. The goal of treatment is to reduce inflammation and limit organ damage. Treatment plans commonly include corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, and other medications, along with lifestyle changes to help manage symptoms and reduce the risk of complications.
