Polyarteritis Nodosa

Polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) is a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation and damage to the arteries of the body, leading to tissue and organ damage. Symptoms of PAN vary but can include fever, weight loss, fatigue, joint pain, muscle pain, and abnormal skin lesions. Diagnosis of PAN can be made using a combination of physical examinations, lab tests, and imaging studies. Treatment for PAN typically consists of corticosteroids and immunosuppressant medications, with some cases requiring disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs or chemotherapy. PAN is considered a serious medical condition, and early diagnosis and prompt treatment can help reduce long-term complications.
