Blood Vessel Formation
Blood vessel formation, also known as angiogenesis, is the process by which a new network of tiny blood vessels form from pre-existing vessels. It plays an essential role in the body’s development and the maintenance of normal homeostasis. Angiogenesis is triggered by the release of angiogenic factors, such as VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factors). This process is also important for wound healing and tissue repair. Angiogenesis can be both beneficial and detrimental, as it can be involved in the development of certain diseases such as cancer, as well as beneficial processes such as wound healing and regeneration. Thus, it is important to understand the regulation and control of angiogenesis in order to develop therapeutic treatments and drugs to prevent or control the development of disease.
