Translational Research
Translational research is the process of taking scientific discoveries from the lab bench and changing them into clinical applications. This is an important stepping-stone between the discovery of new knowledge in the laboratory and its practical application to improve patient health outcomes. The goal of translational research is to identify and investigate the most effective ways to rapidly prototype, evaluate, and deploy new treatments, products, or services that improve public health. Translational research is essential for the advancement of modern health care as it seeks to improve the effectiveness, safety, and efficiency of health care delivery. In addition, it serves to bridge the gap between basic science and clinical practice, and to integrate the disciplines of biomedicine, epidemiology, healthcare, and public health.
