Translational Neuroscience

Translational neuroscience is the interdisciplinary field of research that seeks to bridge the gap between basic neuroscience and clinical medicine. It involves the use of cutting-edge technologies and neuroscience-derived knowledge to address complex medical problems. Translational neuroscience research has a strong focus on the development and evaluation of treatments for neurological and psychiatric disorders for translation into clinical practice. Research conducted within the field has led to better treatments and understanding of conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, and traumatic brain injury. As such, it is a rapidly growing field of scientific inquiry and has the potential to revolutionize medical care for those suffering from neurological and psychiatric disorders.
