Obstetrics and Gynecology is a branch of medicine devoted to the care of women’s health throughout their lifespan. It combines the medical science of obstetrics, which deals with the care of pregnant women and the delivery of a baby, and gynecology, which focuses on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease or disorders of the female reproductive system. Obstetricians and gynecologists provide preventive care, diagnosis, and treatment for reproductive health issues, provide counseling and support for pregnant women, and are experts in many surgical procedures involving the female reproductive organs. The field is essential to the health and wellbeing of women, and its importance has been highlighted as a result of recent advancements in healthcare.
