Thoracic Duct
The Thoracic Duct is the largest lymphatic vessel in the human body. It is responsible for draining lymph from the abdomen and lower extremities, and collecting lymph from the chest and left upper extremity, transporting it all to the circulatory system for absorption. Its significance lies in its role in maintaining the body's proper balance of fluids - too much fluid in the body can lead to a range of illnesses, such as lymphedema, while too little can lead to dehydration. It is also used as part of some medical imaging tests, such as thoracic ductography, and for collecting tissue samples for diagnostic purposes. Thoracic Duct is an essential part of the lymphatic system and its proper functioning is essential for the body's overall health and well-being.
