Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Pulmonary rehabilitation is an evidence-based program focusing on physical and psychological components to improve patients' quality of life and overall health. This type of rehabilitation is most commonly used for those persons suffering from chronic respiratory conditions such as COPD, asthma, and cystic fibrosis. Professional programs may involve a variety of interventions such as physical activities, self-management skills, nutritional counseling, and psychosocial support. The aim is to reduce the impact of dyspnoea and fatigue, increase exercise capacity and functional mobility, improve the psychological status and quality of life, and reduce the need for hospitalization due to exacerbation of the condition. Pulmonary rehabilitation is an important element in the comprehensive management of chronic respiratory diseases, as it improves the outcome of traditional medical treatments.
